outfit of the day(bird): DMV

jeans, booties ~ Target
sweatshirt ~ H&M via Goodwill
sunglasses ~ thrifted

I renewed my driver's license yesterday. I was so proud of myself for waking up early enough to curl my hair and put some makeup on. I even threw some lipstick on before I left for work. Here's the problem....Chris has been treating me like a queen my whole birthday week. (Huge problem, right?) Part of that royal treatment was him stopping at the most delicious cafe on the way to work to pick us up some quiche. My choice? spinach and ricotta. I got to work, gobbled it down, and walked over to the county center to get my new license. Normally the lines are monstrous, so I allowed myself time while waiting to reapply my lipstick and check for general problems that might show up in the ID I will be using for the next four years (not that anyone cards me anymore). But when I arrived at the DMV, there was no one in line. I received my number and had it called before I could even sit down and use my phone as a mirror. So when the woman swept me over to get my picture taken, I smiled and hoped for the best. I will tell you in 8-10 days if there was spinach between my teeth.

xo,
megan bird

  1. Haha fingers crossed that your smile will be spinach free! The last time I got my license renewed they let me see the picture before they put it through the system! I think they give you a retake if you want, which is nice, but could cause problems. Like the older woman in front of me who made the poor guy retake the photo about 8 times haha. Love this look, it's a perfect mix of casual and cute!

  2. Ha ha! I hope not : ) We're not allowed to smile so we all look like criminals here.

    1. True in many places, because new facial-recognition software can't identify smiling faces as easily as non-smiling ones. Smiling distorts facial features.

  3. Ha! Funny story. Here they shoot you with a digital camera and ask if you like the picture before they save it. If not, they'll let you try again.

  4. Fingers are crossed that you didn't have spinach in your teeth..... itching to grab that outfit though! (Or one like it.) They will do one re-take here.

  5. Ha - that's so great! I had a huge line imprinted on my forehead on my last picture from the eye test. I'm getting it replaced next month so I'm crossing my fingers it's a better shot this time. :)

  6. This made me laugh and reminded me of when I had mine renewed last summer. I wrote a whole rant on Facebook about how I got all dolled up to go to the DMV! I agree...I didn't want a BAD picture for 4 years! Sorry about the spinach :)

  7. Too funny! Hopefully no spinach will show! But hey, not having to wait at the DMV?? That's like gold! And I love this outfit - true story I tried on those jeans last week and was thisclose to buying them but decided not to because I would only be able to wear them on a weekend...kind of having regret now!

  8. I do this thing where I tilt my head in every picture so the guy kept retaking it trying to get me to stop doing it. After 5 times, I was just like please stop. It's not going to get any better than this.

  10. LOL Aw man! Well I'm sure you still looked beautiful! On the last day that I had my picture taken, Patrick had just been deployed and my eyes were practically black and red from crying and being tired. So it could be worse. We are all our worst critics, right? Love these leopard booties!

  11. Ahahahaha O no! I also swiped on some lipstick before my picture the other week. When it arrived, the lipstick looks crazy against the new turquiose background..... ugh the DMV.

  13. LOL! Those darned license bureaus have a conspiracy against any of us taking a decent photo. ;) Loving the distressed denim and leo print booties--great photos! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  14. Oh no! I'll cross my fingers for no green teeth. :) But I think there's some sort of law against having a really good license photo though, what is the deal with that?! I love those cute leopard booties!

  15. Megan, you look amazing. Love this simple yet so chic look. Those jeans are so cool. Phone as a mirror, I'm as well using and it's always puts a smile on my fiance face. He never thought about that before. Oh, no fingers cross no spinach between teeth.
