Every once in a while (approximately once a month), I get a bug up my butt about things in my life I need to change. Mostly it's all cosmetic...I need to color my hair, I need to paint the walls, I need to buy a new pair of shoes. Last Friday, all of these feelings were paired with the fact that Chris was going to a work happy hour(s).

So once the kids went to bed, I was alone with my thoughts and a glass of wine. I threw some color in my hair and started frantically moving furniture around. I ended up caulking the bottom of our rug to prevent it from moving around (genius idea, Martha Stewart), spackling holes in walls, moving every single piece of furniture in our living room around (over and over again), and putting a few new holes in the wall. Then the next morning, I grabbed some items from the garage and added to the mix of decor. (The great thing about being a hoarder is that I don't ever need to buy new stuff to redecorate.)

All in all, I was very pleased with how the living room turned out, and just ok with my hair. One out of two ain't bad.

xo,

  2. I totally do this! I find that throwing things away helps, for some reason I end up with untold amounts of cardboard boxes, which I keep because 'you'll never know when they might come in handy' and then I throw them all away in a paddy. The other thing that makes me feel better is to tidy my bookshelves.
    Fab outfits.

  3. Loving the fab coats, you two; looking fab as ever! Here's to a productive Friday eve! It's generally my least productive night of the week (I am usually wiped out by the time it arrives); so, I'm majorly impressed! :) Thanks for hosting this link up. T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  4. I think moving furniture and redecorating is therapeutic! And everything seems fresh and new without having to spend any money!

  7. Isn't redecorating the house fun. I have been doing that this past month. Which my new couches will be here tomorrow. I can't wait.

  8. Change is often cathartic. Besides, all French beauties (like Marion and you) are entitled to indulgences...

  9. first of all, Marion Cotillard has got serious style, and i love how y'all mimic - coats and heels are a definite-yes combo in my book. second, i get that same bug every month or so - change needs to happen and it needs to happen, stat. luckily it doesn't take bigger things that paint or lipstick to make things better, right? if that's all you need, things are pretty gosh.darn.good.

  10. Ed is always scared to leave me home alone for too long - because when he comes back I've almost always done something new to the house. :)

    Nora - love that coat!

  11. This is totally me - I get a bug up my butt to change something too about once a month - I swear that's the only way anything gets done around my house ever!!

    LOVE both looks as always!!

  13. Megan, that coat is fantastic!!! Love the shirt Nora! I think all women like to move things around, it's much easier to re-do a living room than to tackle the other irritations we have in life and we also get quicker results!

  14. You both look super cute! I get that way too, I want to chuck my entire wardrobe at the moment. I hope that you post pics of your livingroom!

  15. Sounds productive and great use of time when the kiddos went to bed. I don't have children but I go through spurts where I'm on a roll and get inspired to change a bunch of things at once.

Great shoes by the way, both pairs, too. :)

  19. I LOVE both your coats. And the shoes--so cute! I like changing decor around, too, maybe not as often as you bc I'm a planner & I tend to overthink. So I'll think & think & ponder & plan and then a month later I'll do something. :)

  20. I am really into coats and jackets lately and am loving both of yours! I tend to decorate and am good for about 4 years. As we've been in this house about 6 months, I have some time before the "itching" starts.

  21. Ooh I really love the coats and the shoes here, so fabulous! I kind of wish I got that sort of "itch" to be honest. I tend to be such a planner that nothing gets done unless I meticulously plan it out. And who plans decorating/redecorating? Well, I don't...so nothing ever really happens around here.
