outfit of the day(bird): crust whisperer

dress~ c/o texturable
shoes and head scarf~ Target

Jim and I have almost never seen Mimi eat a crust of any sort. Not a pizza crust, nor a sandwich crust, nor any other sort of crust that exists. Even hamburger buns, that basically have no crust, she will eat all but the edges. It's so strange and practically unexplainable. I don't usually eat pizza crusts, so we assume that is where this crust ban sprung from, but she is really not a picky eater otherwise, so it confuses us. We have tried many things to get her to eat her crusts, including telling her that the crusts are the healthiest part of the bread (she's very impressed and will almost always eat something when it's claimed to be healthy), but even that didn't work. It may not have helped that even Jim didn't believe that claim, which lead to some extensive research (AKA Googling) as to whether or not it was true (IT IS! Google said so!). Anyway, why am I telling you all of this? Well, last night we went out for pizza with Megan and Chris and Mimi ended up sitting next to Megan who somehow talked Mimi into eating all of her crusts. I am not sure exactly how it happened, but clearly Megan is a crust whisperer and she needs to teach me her secrets. For this reason and many many others, it is so wonderful to have sisters who have been moms for longer than me and have more experience and more tricks up their sleeves. I learn so much from each of them every day and I am so thankful and so lucky.

xoxo, nora bird

  1. My daughter doesn't eat pizza crusts at all, and my son won't eat buns or sandwiches, but he will eat toast. Children are fascinating creatures.
I love the bottom of this dress! It is so unique and of course I love the pink.

  2. Oh my goodness, I love this outfit! You look gorgeouser than usual....... yes, that is totally a word.
For a time. when she was three or so, the kidling refused to eat tomatoes, but if I called them 'love apples' she'd eat them like, well, an apple. Go figure!

  7. Pizza crust is the best part! I can relate to the bread one though, when I was Mimi's age I had a hard time with bread crust too for some reason. I did outgrow it though! Glad Megan could help you out!
    Love the pretty dress!

  8. Hahahaa, I believe the crust is the best part, for a pizza, a piece of bread - everything.

Anyway, that is the most gorgeous Fringe Dress ever. What an unique, Bohemian Maxi. The Hot Pink Color suits you so well, too. =)

    Happy Tuesday Megan & Nora!

  9. Haha, my little sister is 20 and still won't eat her crusts - though thankfully she no longer leaves 'crust' on a bagel.

Love this dress, great color and such a fun hemline!

  13. What a beautiful dress, you look stunning! I also don't eat the crust.. and I don't like the edges of bread. Sometimes I don't really enjoy the edges of a burger bun either, it has a different texture! Haha. But I'll still eat it because I don't want to seem weird picking off the edges of a burger bun. Maybe I need Megan to give me a talk too! :)

  14. Crust Whisperer! LOL Well done Megan! My niece Anya is similar in that if you tell her something will make her strong "like a true hero" (she's obsessed with Hercules), she will eat it/do it. Sisters are awesome!
