Mother's Day

Being a mom is:
  • Questioning every decision you make and hoping that you are doing (most of) it right...And then looking at your kids and realizing you must be
  • Reading every piece of solicited (and unsolicited) advice...And then trying to find a middle ground that works for you
  • Trying so hard to feed your kids healthy, organic, top-of-the-line food...Then being so tired that you make mac and cheese (and they love it)
  • Spending hours making homemade mac and cheese...And they only want the box kind
  • Waking up to every little noise you hear at night...Including your baby giggling in her sleep
  • Having your child say your name over and over, asking you every question possible, wanting to be in the room with you at all times (even if that room is the bathroom)...And secretly loving it
  • Knowing that sometimes your kids will not like you...But punishing them anyway
  • Folding a ton of laundry...Or leaving it the basket for a few days (weeks)
  • Pretending you know all the answers to their science questions...While secretly googling the answer
  • Getting so frustrated when they are naughty...And then realizing they are your payback for when you were a child
  • Calling your mom for advice at all hours of the night...Even if that advice is to simply relax and have a glass of wine
  • Crying when they are hurt
  • Laughing when they are happy
  • Championing for them when they are the underdog
  • And cheering for them when they’re not
It is both the hardest and most rewarding job on the Earth, and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers (and your mothers) out there. Keep on doing what you’re doing!

  3. This post was amazing. I especially had to smile about the points you made about healthy eating and macaroni+cheese from the box. I am a fairly new mom (this will be the 2nd time I celebrate this Holiday) but I have so many things to look forward with my daughter.

I have a special post planned for this Sunday Mother's Day. I'd love for you ladies to check it out.

Last but not least those photos of both of you with your kids are wonderful. Happy Mother's Day Megan and Nora, to your sister(s) and Mom as well. Hope you relax and have a wonderful weekend being spoiled by your families. =)
