outfit of the day(bird): the birthday bag

sweater, t-shirt ~ thrifted, Goodwill
pants ~ Marshalls

necklace ~ Forever 21
hat ~ DIY

This week is Henry's birthday week. In our family, we have a "never ending" gift bag for birthdays that magically gets filled up each day of the lucky person's birthday week. So, since Sunday, Henry has received a small gift each day.
Before his birthday, we asked him what he wanted, and he told us a diamond necklace. I know, it's lofty, right? Diamond is his birthstone, and he wanted to show it off a little, so I scoured the internet for "diamond" necklaces that weren't too feminine. Henry also loves wolves, and I finally found the perfect necklace for him, it is a black and white (fake) diamond necklace in the shape of a howling wolf.

However, the day before his birthday is April Fool's Day, so we decided to throw a big statement necklace in the bag as a trick. Tuesday morning, he excitedly dug into the bag as I videotaped him, expecting to catch him in a moment of shock, and most likely, disappointment.

But the joke was on us, because being the polite kid that he is, he pretended to like it. He even put it on and posed for a picture with it. That's my boy!

PS. here's a picture of the real necklace he got for his birthday. His smile is equally as big as with the fake one!

  14. You are just so much sexy-cute hotness that snow should all be melting!
Your son sounds like such a sweetie and a lot like mine. From a very young age, my son would express great joy and thanks over any gift he was given, even the oddest one. When he was three he went to his first dentist appointment and they brought out the little toy/treat box at the end for him to choose something. He selected a "diamond" ring and came bursting into the waiting room where I was saying "mummy look! I've got a diamond ring just like yours!" Not long after that he was quite into pirates and treasure so he actually collected the little rings at the dentist for several years and filled his treasure chest.
