Last week I ordered some essential oils on Ebay. I am making my own night cream, and needed a number of oils in order to make it. I received my package fairly quickly, only to find that one of the oils was wrong. I immediately contacted the seller, thinking that it would be an easy fix, she'd apologize and send me the correct oil asap. Instead she went into this long diatribe about how it was too expensive for her to ship the correct one, and that she tried to contact me regarding what I ordered, but had to ship before I got back to her (note there were no messages from her in my inbox). I told her I would send the incorrect oil back (she would pay for shipping, of course) if she would send me the correct one. And she kept refusing. She thought she was coming up with reasonable solutions, but in my book, giving me a partial credit, or having me pay for sending her mistake back was not the reasonable solution. So I finally emailed her and told her to forget about it, that I had already ordered a new oil from a better store, and that I planned on giving her negative feedback for her poor customer service. And now she keeps emailing me telling me she did her best.

No, your best would have been a happy customer. And on that note, I now need to come up with a new DIY for Wednesday because clearly my night cream won't be ready in time!

  1. Good for you for firing this vendor. I had a similar incident online once as well. Left the person a review that was very honest. Great renditions of this week's style inspiration. I wore a jean shirt and skirt--that counts, right? ;) Thanks for the link-up opportunity. Enjoy your Monday! :) T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  2. Bummer. When it's clearly her fault she should have fixed it. No questions asked.

  3. Ugh, that is so annoying that she wasn't willing to fix it for you! Such bad customer service! I doubt she'll be in business long if that's how she treats customers.

Love both of your fun pink shoes!

  4. Ugh! I swear that customer service is a thing of the past. I say this to my husband all of the time. You both look gorgeous in your interpretations. I think it's the bright pink shoes. Both are perfect.

  5. Ugh that's so annoying! So far I've only had good customer service via Etsy, but I would definitely leave some feedback so others don't run into the same problem!

  6. Wow, that's really too bad she had such poor customer service! Good for you moving on! Sadly I have a similar situation with something I ordered from an online shop too and I think I'll be doing the same. I can only be understanding to a point!

Love your looks - your skirts are almost the same! Your pink boots are perfect for a day like today Nora!

  8. That is too bad about the seller. My sister and I make our own creams and body butters. Try PureFromulas.com, you will never go back to eBay for oils, etc.; and you can thank me later, hehe! :)
    Have a great week! xx

  10. What a pain in the a$$!!! I'm sorry you had to deal with that--one of the bummers about buying online privately. And that is too bad because it really deters people from buying from people instead of businesses. I totally get your frustration. I wish she would've made it right. I love you ladies' skirts and pink footwear!

  11. Um I would like to steal your wedges Megan :) These looks are cute! AND WHAT HORRIBLE customer service. I would be SO upset. I would do the same, and try to contact eBay about her. If it wasn't the correct oil, it wasn't the correct oil. That is bad customer service and just bad selling!

  13. I'm wary of both buying and selling on eBay - in fact I won't sell anything anymore. Too much shadiness!

  14. You guys did great with this week's inspiration! The pink shoes and boots really pops out. :-) Situations like these make me afraid of buying on ebay which is why I make sure I don't spend too much if it's doesn't work out.

  17. What the what? Yeah that's pretty terrible service. Why did she even have it available if she didn't want to ship it? I've never bought anything from ebay, and it's probably because of people like her that people stay away! Oh well, you both look cute!

  18. Well I don't imagine her ebay store will be open much longer with customer service like that!! As usual, I love both your outfits, and as usual my favorite parts are the SHOES!!! Too fun, both pairs!

  19. What an awful experience! At least both of your outfits are wins. :)

  22. Megan and Nora, you did a fabulous job with Reese's outfit! I love the pink rain boots, too, although it was a deviation, and a cool one for the original. Sorry about that ebay hassle, I hate when there is poor communication !, Have a great week !

  23. oooheeey, i love supporting local and shopping on ebay and etsy, but sometimes the customer service makes me want to stop it all and just stick with nordstrom and places with straight-forward policies...

  24. O'm having a similar issue on Etsy and I'm steamed. I ordered a necklace in JANUARY. I was supposed to receive it in February. I tracked the package and it had never left California (where the seller mailed it.) I contacted the seller twice before she responded, and she wasn't very nice to me. she told me basically that I had to wait for the post office to find it. Now it is almost May and she finally messaged me that she is just sending me a new one. I've been waiting almost 5 months now...It's almost like, too little, too late. I don't know what kind of review I'll leave. SMH. IF you are going to run a "business" you need to learn customer service!

  25. Customer service should always, always, always be top priority. Without customers you have no business, I don't understand why people don't understand that. I'm sorry for the sucky experience! On the plus side, both of you look fabulous in your remake outfits!

  26. that's horrible about the essential oils ordeal. i love that you make your own products like i do!

  27. OH these are all so cute! Nora, what a cute idea to put the rain boots with it! I feel so chilled just looking at all those bare legs and am pouting because I can't dress like that yet. :(
What terrible customer service. She is going to learn the hard way, I suspect, that customer service is very important!

  28. hi Finally at the beginning of the week! (oh and it is Thursday) Too bad the essential oil deal was weird. I don't know that much about them. I sure wish I had something to soothe my raw mouth. It is far better today than two days ago. DON'T EVER GET CANCER, K? JUST DONT'. ♥, Renae

  29. Poor customer service is the worst! Glad you were able to get a better store to provide the oil to you. Everyone knows on eBay that if you don't provide good customer service you'll get negative feedback. I'm surprise why she didn't just fix her error.

But anyway, you both look great! Love the pink missed with the neutral colors!
