outfit of the day(bird): shake weight dance

shirt and vest ~ thrifted
jeans ~ Ross
boots ~ 6PM.com
bracelets ~ vintage, thrifted
earrings ~ F21

the other day, chris was in the car with henry, waiting for eva to get her coat on. i was waiting with eva in the house. i was standing in the doorway, and chris looked over and waved at me. in an effort to be funny, i started dancing in the window, lifted my hands over my head, and pretended to do the "shake weight dance". if you don't know what i'm talking about, the shake weight is this weird weight that basically....oh i don't even know how to describe it without it sounding perversely sexual. google it. it's funny.

so i was doing the shake weight dance with my hands over my head, shaking my butt the whole time. chris was in the car laughing. all of a sudden, i noticed my neighbor's car driving very slowly away from his house. and his head was rubbernecked watching me. i realized that he didn't know chris was in the car, and he possibly thought that i was doing the dance for him. i was mortified. absolutely mortified. and now, at some point, i feel the need to explain to him that chris was in the car and that i was strangely, and maybe perversely, dancing for him and not for my neighbor. because after all, we are going to be living next to each other for a long time.

curse you, shake weight!

xo,
megan bird

  3. Oh no, that's so embarrassing! I get caught dancing all the time at work, and no matter how many times it happens, I always turn beet red. Although, it sounds like your neighbour was enjoying the show!

Such a cute look--very wintertime chic!

  6. Next time you see your neighbour picture him in a coonskin cap...backward...with the, erm, appropriate opening on his forehead. That should eliminate your embarassment although you might have to explain why you giggle every time you see him!

Love this outfit; practical, warm, and still stylish!

  22. cringe! I would be absolutely aghast had that happened to me. Good luck on figuring out how you will casually slip that into conversation.

    "Weather is pretty bad lately."

"Yep, it's been a long winter."

"yep yep yep yep...." awkward silence....

"ah... so you know that weird sexy dance I was doing the other day when you saw me?

    "yeah?" ( excited enthusiasm )

"Yeah... well it wasn't for you."

"oh??? (obvious disappointment) that is really too bad because I kind of liked it"

    "uh...yeaaaaah.......okay...we're all good then"

    "okay, bye!"

  29. i would be mortified too, but you can handle it because you are a strong courageous woman! when i 1st saw the shake weight commercial years ago, i left so much. i did a blog post making fun of it too. your outfit reminds me of a modern dorothy in wizard of oz, if she was casually cool. :)
