outfit of the day(bird): layers and papas

jeans ~ Target
shirt ~ swapped
shoes ~ Urban Original
earrings ~ craft fair

monday morning, i woke up and felt sick again. i thought i was over the hump from friday, but i guess it was the wonderful massage on saturday that temporarily cured me. so i emailed my work saying i wouldn't be in, and promptly fell back asleep. when i woke up, chris and the kids were gone. it's odd that i didn't hear them leave, because normally i am a very light sleeper. i guess i needed the sleep...

when i woke up, i texted chris and apologized for not helping with the kids in the morning. he texted back, said it was ok, and wrote, "the first 15 minutes, we all lay in henry's bed and chatted and laughed. then the kids got ready for school. eva wanted to layer since it was so cold out, so she went to school in two pairs of jeans and two shirts." for some reason this text made me both laugh and cry – cry because i missed out on that early morning time with my family, and laugh because my daughter was at school in two pairs of jeans.

that evening, when i picked them up from school, it was cold – like bone chilling cold. of course, maybe part of that was because i was sick, but really, it was cold. we had snow on the ground, ice on the car, and cold in the air. i got to school, and picked up eva first. she had her full snow suit on and the two pairs of jeans, as promised.....but no hat or mittens. i had to laugh, because as awesome as dads are, sometimes they miss the little details like hats and mittens on a cold day. i guess the two pairs of jeans were sufficient in his eyes!

xo,
megan bird

ps. i wore this outfit on saturday, after my massage, when i was feeling better, and it was a whopping 60 degrees out. oh the difference a day can make!

  10. Heehee, aw sweetie, EVERYTHING makes me cry when I'm sick. In fact, it's always a helpful giveaway that I've caught something when I start getting choked up because of a commercial or a picture of a cat or something. Hope you're much improved! P.S., hot outfit!

  16. oooh not liking you being sick so long. it is hard to be a mom and get well when you have to make sure everyone else is healthy, huh? yet, mother nature can turn on us any old time, hence weird weather. two pairs of pants is hilarious, simply hilarious. feel better soon.

  24. Yay..60's. Cute kiddies...two jeans! That remindes me of my parenting times.... One day, low on lunch items, I gave my daughter mini marshmallows and wheat thins. She reminds me every few years.

  25. I know you were complaining about the cold, but you look hot! Also, that would have made me sad, too, that I missed out on family cuddle time, but there's lots more where that came from! Get well!

  26. Leopard and plaid has now become one of my favorite combinations ever. Seriously, this plaid shirt is fantastic and I really like how it plays off of the gray leopard print pants.

Sorry you were feeling so icky, but at least you got a cute story out of it. It's funny how dads are like that, my husband always forgets the hats on the kids. :) Hoping you're feeling better now!

  27. those two are some amazing patterns together. I totally love the combo! and your wedges are wonderful too!
