i came to a realization on saturday as i was getting dressed to go out. it wasn't a new realization (so i guess it was a re-realization), but it hit me extra hard on saturday. you see, i was getting ready to go see the thunder from down under with nora, erin and another friend ~ we went last year, and decided we might as well make it an annual tradition. anyways, back to the realization...women don't get dressed up for men, we get dressed up for other women.

now like i said, i have known this for a while. don't get me wrong, when chris and i go out, i want to look my best for him. i love looking my best for him (most days), but in the back of my head, i know other women are going to see me when we go out, and i also know that a woman's worst critic (or champion) when it comes to fashion, is another woman. so on saturday, i clearly wasn't dressing up so some hunky aussie would notice me and maybe pull me on stage during his performance. (although how awesomely funny would that be?) i was planning on going somewhere that was chock-full of women, as in no men, and i was getting myself all made up, dressed up, and perfumed. i even did my nails. basically, i was making myself "date ready" to look nice for the women i might meet. because what's better than a drunken, "i love your shoes" while waiting in line for a $8 beer while watching half-naked men dance?

happy monday. i hope your weekends were fabulous!!

  6. I totally agree! Sometimes I put more thought into my girls night outfits than I do into my date night outfits! But it is so satisfying to be the envy of your friends when like you said, they comment your shoes or your hair or something!

I love both of your comfy looking outfits and that both of you are wearings scarves from your mom! That's really sweet!

  8. So true. If my husband says I look cute I think, "Yeah, right. He thinks I look cute in my old ratty bathrobe." If a fashionable girlfriend says I look cute I think, "Hmmm. I must have gotten it right." And if a gay man says I look cute I think, "I must look awesome!" But I actually dress for MYSELF!

  9. That is odd, I mean do I do that? You made me stop and think about it. You know, I guess that is the case. But I feel I want to look styling for my husband, too. It is like, I better not get a dirty look from a gal though, too, huh?

You two were very inspired. You both look so comfy and stylin'.

  29. So true, women notice the details while I think most men just take in the over all impression. At least that takes some pressure off. ;-) How was the thunder?
