we have mentioned numerous times in the past two weeks that we had the opportunity to help style a fabulous runway show last saturday. there were plenty of beautiful womenswear designers, but they didn't have anyone to style a menswear line – and that's where we came in...tada! we were so excited when they asked us to help, and we immediately knew we wanted to use the clothing from b. (a resale shop). so we emailed the owner and she answered almost immediately with a resounding yes!!
the show was on saturday, and with our crazy busy lives, we didn't have a ton of time to style the outfits. we were told there would be eight models and we were given measurements/sizes/pictures, but we never actually met the men before the show. off we went to b. where we spent the entire morning picking out fabulous (if we do say so ourselves) outfits. the show was kind of going for an alexander wang sporty vibe, so we wanted to make it sporty and casual, but still super trendy and fun. we picked out about 10 outfits, including a few pieces from our own men's closets.
the night of the show, we were so excited. we showed up with our rack of clothes, a basket of shoes and accessories, and our take-charge attitudes. we met all the models – well, not all of them right away, one was late and one didn't show up – and they were all so nice. they all listened to what we had to say, and put their clothes on without complaint. ok, one guy complained, but we looked at him, told him we were in charge and then told him how handsome he looked, and he was just fine after that! we made all necessary adjustments, added our finishing touches, and then sat and waited until the show started. we got to watch all the behind the scenes make-up and hair. it was amazing what those artists can do with a face and head of hair. seriously!!
at the time of the show, we put the guys in order, and then they asked us if we wanted to walk before or after them. that was when we really freaked out. of course we were both wearing uber-high heels, and of course the runway started with three steps. we decided to walk after, so that if we did trip and fall, we at least wouldn't have a huge man pile-up after us!
as we all waited backstage for the men to walk, we kind of got into our mother-hen modes. we could tell the men were a little nervous, so we did our best to make them laugh, make them feel handsome and confident (because they were), and make them feel at ease. but half of that was for our benefit, too...neither of us prefer to be in the public spotlight!
the men walked separately (like champs), then they walked together, and then nora and i walked (hand-in-hand) down the runway ourselves. we figured that if one of us fell, it would be way more entertaining if both of us did. but we didn't.
we had fun. a lot of fun. and it was a great show...we hope you enjoy the pictures!
first up- our handsome models...

and a few shots from backstage in the tent...
they would make a good looking boy band, am i right?
and because the runway photos didn't show you the full ensembles, we put together this little collage of all the guys (except darnell...he had gone missing) posing in front of a brick wall (like good little fashion bloggers).
we hope you enjoyed the photos!
