inspiration picture for monday september 10: rachel bilson

i want summer to last, but i also want fall to come. and i really don't want winter to come. so i guess i'd be ok with summer ending, as long as fall lasted until next spring. do you think that's possible? maybe somewhere else, but certainly not in minnesota!! i guess the upside is that on account of the biting cold, we don't have huge insects living in our state. i always find the silver lining!

but, seeing as fall is inevitable, we might as well dress the part. and this coat and these booties couldn't be any cuter! plus, i just know that there are a few of you out there who are looking for a reason to get out and buy a cute army coat...so we are hereby giving you an excuse. (it's for the blog!!!) we hope to see you all right here on monday! if you are new and want to play along, read all about inspiration monday right here.

have a good one!

  1. "It's for the blog" - I'm totally going to have to remember that excuse next time I'm shopping. Which, because I have no willpower, will probably be this weekend!

Love this look; Rachel Bilson has some of the greatest personal style. I might just have to look for an army coat and play along. You, know, for the blog.

  8. I wish I lived further north, so I could wear fall clothes sooner! We have another month or two of heat though :( My sister has a similar jacket, maybe I'll borrow it from her this fall!

  9. Oh, I love Rachel B! What a great inspiration photo. I just might have to visit a thrift store to find myself a military jacket this week!

  10. Can I submit an old picture? I've worn something similar and still have all the pieces, I just can't find into them anymore. Just kidding. . . well, the part about submitting an old photo at least. :)

  13. What a lovely look! I especially like how put together she looks with such a simple outfit.

I would love to skip from fall to spring as well. They're my favorite seasons, I think. Winter is just too cold for me!

  14. Love everything about this outfit for fall, perfect layers and casual, cozy approach to cooler weather :) But I gotta say, I can't get on the booties trend myself...for some reason they just seem to make me look weird. Maybe it's cause I'm petite, but I just feel like they cut off my legs and make me look dumpy and clompy.
