i have a confession to make. i'm reading fifty shades of grey. and it's fifty shades of awful. yet somehow i have managed to read about 350 pages in a matter of two days. and one of those days was a work day. i'm almost embarrassed to read it in public, and i definitely try to hide the cover when i am reading it. i honestly don't even like it, yet now i have to finish it because i am 350 pages into it. there is a lot of blushing and gasping and other things that end in "ing" in this book....and it's not for the faint of heart. not much shocks me, and this book is even too much for me. yet i keep reading. hopefully it doesn't end in some "you have to read the next book in the series" kind of way, because i can honestly say that i don't want to read the second (or third) book of this series. yet i have read 350 pages in two days.

have you read it? do you plan to?

happy monday!
xo,
two birds

  1. ah, no fair Nora, you've got that bump spot on ;)
I loved today's look, it was a lovely one. I'm surprised there was no suitable stripy dress in my wardrobe, but I double checked.

  4. I am really looking forward to everyone's version of this week's inspiration as I love all things with stripes or chevrons. Megan and Nora, love your dresses, and oh purple is such a divine color!

Anything striped is always cute i like today's simple outfit inspiration...you gals definitely show us how less is more. 6. So cute, love both dresses :) And of course Reese is always adorable inspiration.

Did you see the funny skit on SNL about fifty shades of grey? I had no idea what it was until then... not sure I could handle it though I admit I'm curious!

  8. Love both of your dresses! I really like the purple color in yours Nora, it's like the perfect shade of purple!

I haven't read the book and I have heard it's horrible - yet there is this curious portion of me going hmm...I kind of want to see what the fuss is all about! Yet I'm not sure I want to!

  9. I love the stripes! Now I know what to get on my summer shopping list :)

I have not read that book, but my mom is right now! lol, she has all of them, so I guess they must be good?

  10. I haven't read it although I heard it was a lot like Twilight but now that I've read about the book it's NOTHING like Twilight! Lol! I loved the Twilight books but I don't know that I'll read that one. But I will tell you it is a trilogy - the other two are Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed! Lol! It's tagged as Erotic Fiction and I'm not sure that's my kinda book. But you two look adorable as always!

  11. Megan and Nora, you both look super cute. Megan, I love your combo with stripes and chambray. The dress fits you beautifully and the length shows off your great legs and shoes. Nora, I love the colors in your dress. Chinese Laundry is one of my most favorite brands of shoes. I have to give your both a congratulations on reaching 600. You are so deserving of many more as your inspiration and drive amaze me. Dawn xo

  12. A few people have said the same thing to me that you just said about Fifty Shades of Grey and it does not make me want to read it!

  13. I read the book. All three actually, and I loved them! But I do know a handful of people that have hated them. One even stopped reading halfway thru.

You both look great, by the way!

  16. You both look SO great in your striped dresses! And thanks for the tip on the book, I definitely don't want to get sucked in to something I'll probably hate!

  17. You ladies both look so cute in your striped dresses!

I've heard people either love 50 Shades of Grey or they thought it was awful. I'm curious and I'll probably read it. Apparently the movie version is the works now too.

  20. Oooh I love both of y'all's outfits. And yeah, I read about the book and decided that I had no interest. But I'm totally judgmental about books, I haven't read any Twilight either and again...no interest.

  21. I love both of these outfits. I havent read the book... although I want to read more this summer so we shall see, although you are kind of making me scared. I am more of nonfictional/biography type person, right now I am Reading Carlys Voice. Highly recommend it!

  23. Your dresses are both really cute. I am reading 50 Shades of Grey right now, and it really is a badly written book. I got it on eBook, so I don't have to hide the cover.

  24. Did you know it was written as Twilight fanfic? That alone tells me all I need to know, ie I will not be reading it. :) Weak female + overbearing male + paternalistic domineering disguised as love = gag me with a pitchfork. Heheh.

You both look great in your stripes!

  26. Love the stripes, ladies! Super cute, as always. I read all 3 of the fifty shades books - I am a little embarrassed to admit that, but I also couldn't put the books down:)

  27. I've actually never heard of that book but I probably wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole now I've heard what you have to say about it, thanks for the heads up! I'm not that into popular modern books anyway (if that's what it is?) and I like fairly tame, innocent books!

I am LOVING the stripes ladies. Megan, your dress and cardie is so pretty- a lovely combo! Nora, I am delighting in your pretty striped purple dress- what lovely shades and really suits you! I enjoyed this IM! Hope you are well! x

  28. you two did it again. Each outfit is wicked cute, but I expect nothing less from you gals :)

I was toying with the idea of reading that book. I might just have to buy it to at least see what all the fuss is about.

  29. Love the stripes (and the fact that it's warm enough to wear sundresses!) I heard the book was poorly written and I'm generally a book snob, so I'm definitely staying away.

  30. I've actually never heard of that book, sorry you aren't enjoying it. Love the striped outfits though! Very cute!

  31. ever since i heard about this book i've been intrigued. i'm on the (very long) wait list to borrow it from my library, and yes i will wait because i'm way too cheap to go and buy the damn thing. but you're the first person to say it's bad. yet, it clearly sucked you in on the first two days, so....i guess i'm still intrigued :)

  34. Someone recommended it to me, but after checking the reviews on it I decided not to go for it. It sounded a bit too much to me. Now I'm glad I didn't!

    Loving the stripes, ladies!

  35. Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one that HATES 50 Shades. Seriously cannot find a single good thing to say about it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I haven't read 50 Shades yet, but am not sure I want to. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love some dirty romance stuff occasionally, but  I dunno... I'd rather just read dirty romance if I'm going to delve into that kind of thing, haha! And really, I don't know anything about the book other than what I heard... I haven't had time to hop online not at work and look it up.

Anyway, as always, you ladies look wonderful! Megan, I'm going to TOTALLY steal that outfit from you... everything about it screams my name! I love those shoes!! Nora, you're looking amazing! That purple color on you is FANTASTIC! And SQUEEEEE! Bump is getting biiiiiig! :)

  38. I just heard about these books, and I think that my curiosity is going to get the best of me. You both look awesome in those stripes. I haven't been very on the ball for Inspiration Monday lately, but I'm hoping to change that soon!

  39. hone runs on the striped dresses bird girls! :) that book sounds dreadful. i decided a long time ago, if i'm not enjoying the journey of a story, or a movie, or a TV show, it's not worth getting to the end. meaning NEXT. that's just my own thing though.
