my baby boy is seven today. unbelievable. it happened so fast. seriously, days can be long, but years pass by quickly! i won't bore you with the whole long story of his birth, i will just fill you in on the funny parts. he was due march 23, induced on april 1, and wasn't born until april 2....he gets his stubbornness from his dad (but his dad will tell you otherwise)! because i was in the hospital, being induced, before i actually went into labor, people were visiting us just to hang out. we had asked my mother-in-law if she wanted to be in the room for the birth, and she adamantly said no. she would just wait until after he was born to see him. so of course, when she came to visit just to say hi, i went into hard labor...and she felt obligated to stay. anyhow, henry was facing the wrong way and i was in hard labor for a while. the doctor kept saying, "i can see his head, just keep pushing." after 2.5 hours, i just didn't believe her. yes, i know you can see his head, but clearly he isn't coming out. they were this close to performing a c-section, but decided to try a few different positions for me to be in while pushing. remember i mentioned my mother-in-law was there? remember i said she didn't want to be? remember they were going to try to put me in various positions? well, you guessed it, they grabbed her and made her hold my leg over my right shoulder as i pushed. so the poor woman saw a whole lot more than the baby. but it worked. with her leg holding and the help of a suction, he was born at 2:17 pm...and i wouldn't have it any other way. happy birthday to my stubborn cone-headed baby. i have loved being a mama for the past seven years!

xo,
two birds

  4. Hi lovely birds, Happy Birthday handsome Henry. Megan, I love your shoes, I remember spending lots of time on their site when you had posted about ordering them. Gorgeous. I needed that laugh about what your mother in law had to do and that she got more than she bargained for. Nora, I love the red highlights in your hair, and that dress from b resale is gorgeous. Another inspiring Monday, sorry I can't join you...still in pain but have felt better since yesterday. I got more than I bargained for too...who knew it would be this darn tough. dawn suitcase vignettes xo

  9. Aww, happy birthday Henry! At least his birthday isn't April Fools Day! Hilarious story Megan. I love my mother-in-law but I don't know that I want her in such a position if I ever have a child! Anyway, I LOVE those shoes! I have been checking out the Go Jane site and I might have to order something when I'm off my ban in just a few more days!

Nora, could you be any cuter? I love your shoes, skirt and sweater combo! And your kicking leg pose! Seriously, you look great!

  22. Happy birthday lovely boy! Love your outfits, you both channelled my favourite colour turquoise! Fabulous shoes, both of you! Megan, in that last photo, you look really like Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) when she was younger (I used to go to dancing school with her!)Nora, are the buttons on your cardigan different colours, awesome anyway, but even more super if so!

  23. As usual, very fun takes on the inspiration photo. I really like that embellished patterned shirt and the how the teal cardigan makes the floral dress pop. :) Happy birthday, Henry! :) That story made me laugh -- his birth was definitely a family effort.
