tuesday remix: sister style

so, i will admit that i watch the show The Bachelor. i'm not ashamed. it is a highly entertaining show. and so far, this season has been full of drama. mostly wholly because all the girls that are competing for Ben's love this season are completely insane (i honestly wonder during every episode where they find people to do these reality love shows. i understand it may be hard to find love these days, but really? The Bachelor? really?* but then i, of course, am one of the millions tuning in, so i suppose i am a part of the problem). along with being insane, the women this season are really really not smart. which is funny, because they all seem to have really important sounding jobs that require a lot of schooling (like the epidemiologist, the CPA, the nurse, the PhD student, etc.). certainly, many of them have a much higher education than myself, so who am i to talk? but last night, during the rose ceremony, one of the girls said, "on a scale of one to ten, i'm going to throw up". now, that just doesn't even make any sense, people!

anyway, on to the remix. megan chose a super cute poncho/shawl/sweater that she recently purchased from Lulu's. it is one of those items that, in theory, you can just throw on over anything and go. but in reality, megan was having a hard time styling it. so she threw it into the remix so we could do our thing! on a scale of one to ten, this was a really fun remix. i hope you think so, too!

outfit one: blackout

shirt~ Old Navy
necklace~ b. (a resale shop)
belt~ vintage, flea market
pants~ Marshalls
boots~ vintage, thrifted

outfit two: backwards

pants/shoes~ Target
tank~ Marshalls
belt~ thrifted
sunglasses~ vintage, thrifted

we hope you have an amazing tuesday!

xoxo, two birds

*i apologize to any of you that have ever thought about applying or have applied to become a contestant on The Bachelor. i'm sure it would be fun, if only for all that free booze! oh, and the trips around the world. but the 25 girls all making out with one guy in front of one another...yeah, that's just not my thing.

  1. Ummm I love me some lulu's and this cape shawl thingy-ma-bob. I'm not gonna lie, the backwards restyle is kind of brilliant but as always both outfits are perfection. And FYI I am totally judging you a little bit for watching the bachelor but only a little bit because I totally watch the dumb kardashian shows on E :)

  2. Adorable!! I especially love that poncho!

I used to watch The Bachelor back when I had cable - my mom and I would watch it together and just laugh and laugh. The crazies they find are so entertaining! :D

  3. the poncho is lovely, hmm... I'm trying to figure how it actually works. But it has a great texture and color, and absolutely versatile. Both of you did a nice remix job as always!

  4. Loving both looks - a ruwana is tricky to style. My mom made me one a while back and I leave it at the office for the odd time it's like the artic in here!

Great job with the restyles! :)

  7. I've never seen the bachelor, but you make it sound hilarious. I would say I would tune in, but I already have so many guilty pleasures (Teen Mom 2, anyone?) The poncho looks great on both of you!

  8. Wow! I'd be clueless as to how to wear that poncho, but you both make it look awesome! Now I want something like that! Nice!

  9. I absolutely love how you both styled this so differently and fabulously! You girls did an AWESOME job and both look fantastic :)

Oh, and I'm a total Bachelor nerd, too! Those girls manage to make me feel better about myself every time I watch!

  10. I really love the shape of the pants with the belt in the first one! I never would have thought to belt the poncho, but it's cute that way! I watched one season of The Bachelorette after my mom got me hooked but haven't seen an episode in a few years. It is ridiculous but entertaining!

  11. That is a fun poncho! Love how both of you chose to style it. I love the belting of the poncho. I have one a poncho I never wear but maybe if I belt it? Gonna have to try that.

  12. Both outfits are so wonderful. The shaw is so unique. I would have no idea how to wear it. And the second top is so great too! Must be awesome to have such a stylish sister!

As for the bachelor, I have never watched it. I merely see the tweets and it sounds hilarious.

  14. never seen the bachelor, never intend to. don't think i'm being snooty, i'm just too busy watching nighttime soap opera teen dramaramas on abc family. both your looks are two thumbs way up, bonus points for cuteness & creativity. no gag reflex here. ;)

  19. I too am TOTALLY sucked into the bachelor, and I ask myself WHY every single week. I read this last night, and your comments about the show totally made me think of it! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/emma-gray/the-bachelor-why-women-watch_b_1200446.html ps. love this remix (and that poncho!)

  23. Oh my gosh! I love how you guys styled this, uh, shawlcho. You both look amazing. You are making me want to go find this magical piece of clothing and purchase it for myself.

I'm also a Bachelor watcher. And I'm incorporating "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm going to throw up" as soon and as often as I can get away with it. :)

Did Shawntel drown kittens or something off camera that we didn't see? Geesh. The response to her showing up was hysterical!

  24. Haha, your commentary on the Bachelor is spot on. I have always gone out of my way not to watch it, but all three of my roommates are addicted and they got me to watch the last 2 episodes...it is honestly shocking. Part of me hopes the women are embarrassed when they watch the show air, but most of me knows that they probably think they come off flawlessly, haha. Ash!
I love the first outfit the most, so chic! But who would have thought to wear it backwards? tres innovative. You two are great.

  25. Ok you two are really good at this. I would have never thought to turn it around! Nice :)

  27. love it backwards!

the contestants have gotten decidedly worse (in multiple ways) with the evolution of the show, yes? or maybe it's just the editing??? (being nice here! ;) anyway, can't say i've watched it this season, but what is it about train wrecks that keep us from looking away...?

  28. Your rant about the Bachelor is too cute. Haha. I have been watching this season with my mom and they are all nuts! I love to hate Courtney - she is a model therefore she is better than everyone? These girls just want time on TV, let's be real.

Anyways, Love both of these options. I think option one if my fave though :] But it worn backwards is such a great idea.

  33. I actually have not watched the show. I love how you're both styling the sweater. That fringe is stunning!

  34. Haha normally I enjoy the Bachelor but sadly I don't think I'll be able to stay up to date with this season due to an over load of school. In any regards it too was my secret love. Not that in any way I'd ever dream of being in those women's shoes but maybe inside myself I think, "Well at least I'm not as pathetic as her." Horrible I know...but true. :S
