outfit of the day(bird): northern exposure

you may notice that the bags under my eyes are way less visible in these pictures than normal.

you could accredit that to the two days of jergens express self tan lotion on my face. but me, i'd like to think it's because i'm on vacation.

we're on our annual trip to breezy point in northern minnesota. it's full of snowmobiles, neon winter jackets and matching neon miller lite signs in every bar, on every corner.

today was a balmy 47 degrees...trust me, that's balmy. i didn't even need to wear a coat. just my bright and unmatching knitwear and my favorite winter boots. of course, the requisite leggings and oversized sweatshirts count as formal wear up here.

today we went exploring and discovered an historical fire lookout, and we went to my all-time favorite flea market/thrift store. i bought a pair of these for $12.50 (i talked him down from $17.50...i'm so frugal like that).

and before you say anything, the shopping ban only includes sartorial purchases...so a pair of lamps and other housewares that i bought do not make me a cheater. plus, wouldn't it be absolutely crazy to pass up the deal i got on those lamps? i almost walked away...and the man behind the counter actually taunted me. taunted me to buy them. so i basically was forced to purchase them.

so, yes, the bags under my eyes are a little less visible today. for a few short days, i am not worried about a clean house, folded laundry or a time frame on life. for a few days, my worries will include such things as, what kind of vodka do i want in my bloody mary, and should i or should i not save $200 on a pair of gorgeous lamps?

i hope your week is going well!

xoxo,
megan bird

  4. I totally jealous of your snow. It;s still in the 50's in Kansas and I'm over it. Why do I own all these wool skirts if I'm not going to be able to wear them...

Then of course I came by to check out your blog and I have to say--you seem so positive and down to earth! I'm so happy to have stumbled by your blog. I know what you mean by this outfit being like formal wear. The weather is always chilly where I am from and there is tons of slush and snow so it's a wonder I even get dressed in the morning sometimes!
