tuesday remix: sister style

jim and i watched sunday's episodes of The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire last night. while we watched, i sat with my laptop open in front of me, trying to think of something to write here. i came up blank. just one of those days, i suppose. it was a long weekend and a busy monday and my brain wasn't in the mood to think anymore. i got nothin'. sorry. but do any of you watch those shows? i love them both. very different, but they are both quite entertaining. check them out if you haven't already!

and now for the remix. megan chose a super cute faux-fur vest from kohls for us to style. i have always kind of wanted a vest like this, but i have never found one that i really love. perhaps because i wasn't looking in megan's closet! hers is super cute and it is such a fun layering piece. i don't know what it is about the remix, but every time it is megan's turn to choose the item, i end up wanting to steal it! she has the cutest clothes. i am lucky to have access to her wardrobe! she's a pretty awesome sister, too. even if she didn't have all the amazing clothes, i'd probably still hang out with her...probably!

let us know what you think of the remix!

outfit one: horizontal stripes

cardigan- Banana Republic, swap
tunic- H&M
leggings- Simply Vera by Vera Wang, Kohls
boots- Alloy
necklace- vintage, gift

outfit two: sheer sleeves

shirt- swap
leggings and boots- Urban Original
earrings- F21
belt- vintage, thrifted

i hope you are all having a happy tuesday!

xoxo, two birds

  1. I love both outfits so much! I actually bought a similar vest 3 years ago-I've only had the balls to wear it once...it's been sitting at the back of my closet being neglected. I'm pretty sure I need to bust that bad boy back out!

  3. I adore The Walking Dead, but I'm just a big zombie fan. It was like a birthday present last year when it aired on Halloween (my b-day). Cute vest, really love the way it's style over the sheer sleeved blouse.

  4. I love both outfits! I never would have thought to put it with a sheer top and belt it. It is like rock and roll and feminine rolled all up into one!

  5. I watch both shows (though I haven't seen any of the new season of Boardwalk Empire yet!) The owl necklace and stripes are super cute and I LOVE the idea of pairing the fur with such an airy sheer shirt!

  6. As soon as I saw the pictures I was drooling! LOVE both outfit remixes. That vest is fantastic. I DVR Boardwalk Empire and cannot wait to watch it tonight. It has been a really dark season and I am hoping something turns around.

  7. Oh, I love what you both did with this piece! It's so on-trend but can be daunting to style because of the bulk it adds, I think both of you did a perfect job by pairing it with slim leggings on the bottom - very inspiring :) I especially love that sheer-sleeved top, have you worn it on its own? I'd love to see it without the vest too it looks like such a perfect staple piece!

  13. Ooh - love it! I have a fur vest in my closet that I've been waiting for colder weather to wear. Guess it's about that time now!!

  14. great remix! i never have the guts to wear a fur vest but it looks great on both of you!

boardwalk empire was super gory this week to me! it was a good episode but a little too much blood for my taste.

  15. I like both looks, I'm such a belt fan, that one is my favourite. The vest look amazingly cozy. Nice work! xo

  16. I like the turquoise earrings paired with the sheer top. It's a good pop of color with an otherwise muted palette. I agree with Fox and Sparrows that it's very rock n' roll over that sheer top. The belted version also helps create a really feminine silhouette out of a piece that might easily make it bulky. I love the top mix, simply because it's stylish but looks so crazy comfy. You could catch me in something like that any day of the week. Have you ever tried pairing the vest with a feminine white dress with long sleeves? Something with eyelets and ruffles that isn't too long? xoxo

  17. Thank you for the lovely comment!
I love the turquoise earrings in this post. They really bring out the outfit. Definitely going to be looking for some turquoise rings soon!

  21. I honestly have never heard of either show but I do work in the evenings. I am however interested in Grimm which comes on Friday. It looks so scary. Girls, I loveeee this vest. Gives me great inspiration for a vest that I have that is similar. You are both amazing at remixing and look super hip. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes

  24. I wish I lived closer to my sister so we could share clothes! You guys are too cute, have I told you that yet this week?!

I love The Walking Dead... but we don't have cable, so I have to wait until it hits Netflix or watch it online. I haven't seen Boardwalk Empire but have heard great things. Man, whenever I try to blog while Kevin and I are watching TV he tells me to put the computer away - he takes his TV cuddle time seriously!! :D

  25. You guys both rock the remix. Neat to see how you style the same thing in different ways. I have yet to find the perfect yeti vest. They all seem to be too short or something. I do like the grey/beige tones in this one!

  26. Love the vest!!! I have been looking for a faux fur vest for a while now - gotta love good old Kohl's when you need a cute staple like that! I love how your personal styles come out in these outfits so well - such a great idea for a post!

  27. So that vest is totally not something I would usually go for, but you two styled it up so cute! And I've been having one of those days all week, so I understand completely :)

  28. i love how the stripes make it look more fun and artsy and then the lose nude blouse makes it more elegant chic, both outfits look FANTASTIC and i would have never come up with either outfit in a million years, i don't have the creativity or fashion sense lol
