new loves and old friends: go-to outfit

since i chopped off all of my hair i have found myself dressing a bit more girly, adding just a touch more mascara and just generally trying to avoid looking at all boyish. not that boys are all bad. they are cute and all. i just prefer to not be mistaken for one. it has been a bit more difficult for me in the chillier weather because i tend toward a more "masculine" look for the fall. my go-to outfit is jeans, a feminine top (not very masculine, i suppose), a structured blazer and boots. if you were to run into me on the street on any given day this fall, nine out of ten times i would be wearing some version of this outfit. in the last week i have shied away from my closet full of blazers in fear that i wouldn''t be able to pull off the look with the new do. but yesterday i was looking through said closet and came across my favorite vintage blazer and i knew i wanted to wear it. so i did. and i think it went alright. as far as i know, no one thought i was a boy. phew!

  1. I love your haircut. The details are so feminine there's no way anyone could ever mistake you for a boy. And there's the added benefit of having a teeny little curvaceous bod...

    Nope. You're all girl.

  6. I don't see a boy at all, but a super hot lady!! You're lookin' good and I adore those boots!

Since I've cut my hair a bit shorter, I typically play up my eyes whenever I wear something a bit more masculine and I always try to add one really feminine thing. Like super sexy shoes, or a frilly blouse. Anyways, I think you nailed it! You look fabulous!

  7. Nora, let's just get this straight right now: no one would ever, ever, ever, ever mistake you for a boy. Ever. K? K! You are absolutely **beautiful**. You look H.O.T. with the new do! Cayla was just commenting on it yesterday. I think her phrase was "super smokin."

  11. I found myself dressing a lot more girly once I cut my hair. The funny part was that I felt a little like a boy with mine cut but kept getting comments about how sexy it was by other people especially guys! Weird right? Anyway, I think you are rocking this hair cut and look NOTHING like a boy!

  12. Every time I see your hair I'm in awe of how amazing you look.

I cut my hair off periodically, and I do the same thing. I actually wear earrings and a little more makeup to make up for the shorter hair.

  13. It would be impossible to look masculine in those hot boots! I know what you mean though. I had short hair for many years and it always made me dress a little bit more feminine! Love your hair- It looks beautiful on you!
P.S. I just found your lovely blog via Suitcase Vignettes!

  16. You definitely wouldn't be mistaken for a boy, silly, you look gorgeous! And isn't it crazy how getting your hair cut that short totally changes how you feel about clothes? I had short hair for a long time, and I felt the same way. Now, I'm torn between growing it out (just from boredom) and cutting it short again (it was easy plus it felt more like me). I'm leaning towards giving it the chop again!

  19. Ha!! A boy? Not on your gorgeous little figure do you look like a male my dear. I love this look - the boots are so cheeky and I can see why that's your favourite blazer. Your hair is AMAZING!!!!! xo

  20. Haha, the day someone thinks you're a man is the day the moon falls from the sky. You are still definitely a gorgeous woman, short hair or no, silly lady :p

My boyfriend has long hair and is often mistaken for a slim woman at a distance though, which is pretty funny, even if it drives him mad. We'll be pulling up to a parking lot (with me driving) and the attendant usually gives us a "Hello ladies" hah.

  22. Wow, I love this outfit! I feel like it's easy for me to get stuck in the boots/blazer/jeans rut in the winter time, but you don't look "stuck" at all because this is so cute and a creative spin on that. Rock that new hair!! Not everybody can and it looks great on you!
